In the year 1973, Sh. Pritam Singh Serai, Founder & Chairman of Satluj Group of Schools, was a Professor of Education at the University of Reading, United Kingdom (UK). Being one of the few Indian Professors teaching in any foreign university of the time, he was invited by eminent bureaucrats, judges, lawyers, politicians and police people to open a minority-centred school in the heart of north India, Chandigarh.

He did just that. But, destiny had more in store for him and generations of students thereafter.

A year after delivering the school he committed to his invitees, he felt the urge to educate students in his own way with the simple motto of ‘You Shall Live With Effort’, which highlighted various principles of a successful life he had learnt throughout the years—from his humble beginnings in a village in Punjab, to his travels throughout the world shortly after India’s independence in 1947.

Thus, in a one-room rented apartment, with three students, Satluj Public School took birth on 12th January, 1976. Being the first private, independent school in the Chandigarh region, Satluj, just like its namesake river and the largest in North India, grew to 14 bungalows and 3,000 students until 1979.

Every great journey starts with one vision, led by a visionary, but is carried through by the dedication, drive and sincerity of everyone involved.

Over the next 44 years, Satluj Group of Schools blossomed into an education tradition carried forth by thousands of Satlujians studying in 13independent, autonomous campuses across India.

Having educated generations of the same families, Satluj has cemented its legacy as one of India’s foremost educational institutions, which is evident by the numerous awards and rankings it is bestowed upon on a yearly basis. This includes being ranked No. 5 in India and No. 1 in Haryana by EducationToday and DigitalLEARNING; a ‘Great Place to Study in the World’ at the House of Commons, British Parliament, United Kingdom and numerous international, national, state-level and district-level recognitions.

With over 30,000 members and counting, Satluj Heritage Association (SHA), is one of the region’s largest alumni bodies. As a testament to the ‘Satluj Way of Teaching’, our alumni are studying in the world’s best universities, including Oxbridge (Oxford, Cambridge Universities), Ivy Leagues (including Harvard, Stanford Universities) and numerous top Indian universities. Furthermore, due to the strong emphasis of leadership, entrepreneurship and inquisitivity during school days, our alumni are heading Fortune500 companies, top entrepreneurs, bureaucrats and politicians, and top professionals.

It’s an adage that a school is as good as its results. And that holds true for Satluj. With record-breaking academic scores, Satlujians are consistently amongst the top scorers in CBSE examinations, locally, regionally and nationally, with hundreds each year scoring more than 90% aggregate.

Satluj is a perfect mixture of tradition and modernity. We have introduced 3D Printing Lab and compulsory classes in Innovation Lab in our curriculum. Technologies like – Artificial Intelligence (AI), Mixed Reality (MR), Virtual Reality (VR) and Blockchain have been amalgamated with our teaching methodologies. Learning therefore, has not only been made fun and interesting, but students thus are being trained for the future.

Satluj even has associations with several ivy-league universities. We provide with KET and PET courses from Cambridge University. We have tie-ups with leading universities of Europe, U.S and U.K like – University of Illinois, University of Kansas, University of Leeds, Durham University and many more.
